90+3 min Imagine if Chelsea score a winner now; the Emirates would explode.

    Share

90+2 min I don’t say this very often, but today has been a good day for lovers of VAR.

    Share

90+1 min At first glance Maanum looks onside as she ran onto Alessia Russo’s through pass. Renee Slegers is shaking her head in disgust on the touchline.

    Share

90 min: Maanum has a goal disallowed!

It was a beautiful finish, clipped nonchalantly over Hampton, but the flag went up for offside. I’d like to see that again…

    Share

    Updated at 14.51 CET

89 min Renee Slegers has been booked for something or other. Sonia Bompastor was unhappy with a challenge by Hinds on Cuthbert; I’m not sure what Slegers did.

    Share

88 min “Arsenal! Arsenal!” rings round the Emirates Stadium. This game is anyone’s now.

    Share

After an extended spell of Arsenal pressure, Maanum lifted a clever angled pass into the Chelsea area. Russo – who looked fractionally offside – pulled away from Bjorn and sidefooted a crisp volley towards goal from 10 yards. Hampton did very well to reach it, diving low to her right, but could only help it into the net.

GOAL! Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea (Russo 87)

Arsenal were having a moment; now they’re celebrating an equaliser!

    Share

86 min: Chelsea substitutions Sandy Baltimore and Oriane Jean-Francois replace Alyssa Thompson, whose fabulous goal may have won this game, and Wieke Kaptein.

    Share

85 min The resulting corner is headed down and behind by Russo. A 0.0001 chance on the old xG.

    Share

84 min Arsenal are having a moment. Smith plays a return pass to Maanum, whose cross-shot bounces across goal and behind for a… corner. In fact it was shanked behind by Bjorn, who with a firmer connection may well have scored an own-goal.

    Share

84 min Kelly works Hampton with a bouncing shot form 25 yards. Good effort but a comfortable save.

    Share

83 min Caldentey gets to the byline and lifts a cross that is headed away to the edge of the area. Smith (I think) has a snapshot that is blocked.

    Share

81 min Fox plays an inviting pass down the right for Smith, who clips a first-time cross on the run. It’s missed by everyone in the middle and reaches Kelly beyond the far post; she slashes a difficult half-volley well off target.

    Share

80 min Chelsea win a corner – and take their time over it, a right they have earned by taking the lead in this game. Eventually Cuthbert sprays it straight out of play for a goalkick. Oh well.

    Share

78 min: Arsenal substitution Chloe Kelly comes on to huge cheers; Caitlin Foord goes off.

    Share

77 min A blistering run down the right from Carpenter ends with a low cross to Kerr on the six-yard line. She can’t find an angle for a shot so tries a backheel to Kaptein instead; Kaptein is superbly tracked by an Arsenal midfieldedr and the danger passes.

    Share

76 min Arsenal have finished strongly in several games this year so this certainly isn’t done. Chelsea are defending superbly, though, and are starting to look more dangerous in transition.

    Updated at 14.45 CET

74 min Kerr sparks a Chelsea break with a dynamic run down the right – but then she leaves Kaptein’s return pass for an imaginary teammate and the move peters out.

    Share

72 min: Chelsea substitutions Comedy boos at the Emirates as Sam Kerr replaces Catarina Macario.

    Share

72 min: Arsenal substitutions Frida Maanum and Kyra Cooney-Cross replace Stina Blackstenius and Victoria Pelova.

    Share

71 min Arsenal are pushing for an equaliser, dominating possession for the most part. But there’s an element of desperation to their attacking play. The pitch also looks weirdly slow, which isn’t helping them.

    Share

70 min: Man Utd 0-1 Aston Villa Aston Villa still lead at Leigh Sports Village, so this could be a really good day for Chelsea. (And Aston Villa.)

    Share

    Updated at 14.28 CET

68 min A reminder that, if it stays like this, Arsenal will be eight points behind Chelsea and probably out of the title race. Should that eventuate, we’ll hear plenty about Stina Blackstenius’s disallowed goal.

    Share

66 min Smith beats Chalres with ease, moves into the area and cuts the ball back to Blackstenius. She sweeps a first-time shot that takes a slight deflection and is pushed away by Hampton. Good save.

Arsenal will be really encouraged by the ease with which Smith dribbled past Charles.

    Share

65 min Pelova is booked for a nasty, studs-up follow through into Walsh’s leg. Walsh is limping around in obvious pain.

    Share

64 min Thompson, such a livewire in Chelsea’s attack, charges across Fox and comes this close to meeting Rytting Kaneryd’s cross. Fox sees her at the last second and makes a crucial block tackle.

    Share

62 min: Arsenal substitutions Taylor Hinds and Olivia Smith replace Katie McCabe and Beth Mead.

    Share

61 min: Chelsea substitution Ellie Carpenter replaces Lucy Bronze at right-back.

    Share

60 min A pithy email from Arsenal fan Charles Antaki: “Unlucky.”

    Share

58 min VAR in the WSL: discuss.

    Share

57 min The replays confirm Blackstenius controlled the ball with her thigh, not her arm. That, sorry to say, is a bad mistake from the referee Melissa Burgin.

Chelsea can argue that the corner was wrongly awarded in the first place. Let’s all play Whataboutery, the fun game that’s gripping the entire bloody planet.

    Share

    Updated at 14.28 CET

56 min I have no idea what happened there. One moment the TV coverage was showing replays of Blackstenius’s finish; the next Hannah Hampton was taking a free-kick for Chelsea.

    You’re welcome.

    Share

55 min McCabe is booked for a really poor tackle on Bronze (I think).

    Share

    DISALLOWED GOAL! Arsenal 0-1 Chelsea

Mead’s corner evaded Bright, hit the head of the unsighted Charles and ricocheted towards Blackstenius. She controlled the ball and smashed it into the roof of the net – but the control was with her hand and the goal has been ruled out.

At least I assume that’s why it was disallowed because there were no other Arsenal players involved. It’s hard to be sure and the Arsenal coach Renee Slegers is on one.

GOAL! Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea (Blackstenius 54)

    Arsenal are level!

    Share

52 min The referee Melissa Burgin has an extended word with Katie McCabe. We can probably join the dots.

    Share

51 min: Vital save by DvD! Rytting Kaneryd evades a woolly challenge from Pelova in the area and has a couple of close-range shots crucially blocked by Wubben-Moy. After a bit of pinball, Charles’ low shot is kicked away by the stretching Van Domselaar. That’s a good save – and brilliant defending from Wubben-Moy.

    Share

    Updated at 14.12 CET

48 min Thompson breaks dangerously down the left but then slides an errant cross too far in front of Macario. That was actually a good chance because I think Macario had the run on her marker Catley.

    Share

    Updated at 14.08 CET

46 min Peep peep! Arsenal get the second half under way. No hay banda substitutions.

    Share

Half time: Man Utd 0-1 Aston Villa

I promised you goalflashes from Old Trafford and, erm, I forgot. So sue me!

I can belatedly inform you that Villa are ahead at half-time thanks to a 35th-minute goal from Miriael Taylor.

    Half-time reading

    Share

    Half time: Arsenal 0-1 Chelsea

A half of two halves at the Emirates. Chelsea started the match sensationally, hitting the woodwork either side of Alyssa Thompson’s brilliant goal. But Arsenal eventually found their groove and were much the better side as half-time approached. While they didn’t create any clear chances, the Chelsea defence had to work extremely hard to keep Hannah Hampton’s workload down.

    Share

45+2 min Arsenal take a short corner on the left, eventually leading a blocked shot from Pelova on the edge of the area.

    Share

45 min Four minutes of added time. Only one team wants to hear the whistle – Arsenal’s pressure has been relentless in the last 10 or 15 minutes.

    Share

44 min Chelsea have forgotten how to kepe the ball. It’s all a bit strange because they were imperious for the first 20 minutes.

    Share

42 min “Any news of Leah Williamson, whose presence Arsenal are clearly missing?” asks Jeremy Boyce.

She’s back in training but nowhere near a return – I think Arsenal are hoping she’ll be available before the winter break.

    Share

41 min Hampton is okay to continue.

    Share

40 min Hampton needs treatment after diving bravely at the feet of Blackstenius. The camera cuts to Emma Hayes and Vic Akers, two giants of the women’s game, in the crowd.

    Updated at 13.47 CET

37 min Blackstenius tries to place one from 15 yards. Comfortable save for Hampton as she falls to her right.

Bright loses the ball high up the field to Russo, who squares it to Caldentey on the edge of the area. Her shot is tame and Hampton makes another comfortable save. But things are happening for Arsenal. Things.

    Share

36 min Bright and Hampton leave the ball for each other on the edge of the Chelsea area. Blackstenius is on the scene quicksmart and Bright has to make a desperate lunging tackle.
