How to use Pixel 10 Quick Share with iPhone AirDrop

Google announced earlier this afternoon that Quick Share on Pixel 10 now works with AirDrop on iPhone, and it’s actively rolling out now. Here’s how it works, and also how to get the functionality live on your device now.

The beauty of Google’s new AirDrop support within Quick Share is that it works in both directions and without any work on the iPhone owner’s end. To use the famous quote: It just works.

That said, this is a rollout on Google’s end, so you might not be able to use it just yet on your Pixel 10.

Luckily, there’s an easy way to speed up the process.

This new feature is handled through an update to the “Quick Share Extension,” with an update to that app now rolling out. If you open the Play Store listing (the link only works on your phone), you can install the latest update on Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, or Pixel 10 Pro XL.

After you’ve installed the latest update, you need to reboot your device. We’ve tried this on two Pixel devices. On a Pixel 10 with the update installed, it started showing with our iPhone 15 Pro after a reboot. But on a Pixel 10 Pro XL with the same update installed and not having been rebooted, it didn’t work. After a reboot, it immediately started working. No other updates were installed (and the 10 Pro XL had actually been turned off for a few days prior to this).

Of course, your results may vary, but this is what worked for us (both devices being on the latest stable Android 16 release, and the iPhone on iOS 26.1).

Once everything is up and running, Pixel can share files to an iPhone as long as AirDrop on the iPhone is in “Everyone” mode, and Pixel shows up for an iPhone as long as Quick Share is set to the same mode.

    What the Pixel sees

    What the iPhone sees

Notably, installing the Quick Share Extension on a Galaxy Z Fold 7 yielded no results. The app installs, but the Fold never appears on the iPhone’s AirDrop list, nor does the iPhone appear on the Fold’s Quick Share list. Quick Share for Windows also doesn’t see the iPhone, nor does the iPhone see it. This is purely working with Pixel 10 devices for now.

It’s rather impressive this works at all. Let us know in the comments below if you’ve been able to try it out.
